Special Projects Coordinator
Danielle Lightning’s Cree name is Nipi‐iskwew, which means Water Woman and she is an Oji‐Cree woman from the Ermineskin Cree Naon of Maskwacis, Alberta.
She has received a Degree in the Bachelor of Commerce program at MacEwan University, majoring
in Management in 2016. Previously, she had completed the Management Diploma and transferred into
the Degree program. She also has a background in Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing.
While in school, she has taken part in community leadership roles such as being
CoPresident of MacEwan’s Aboriginal Student Club and as an Ambassador in MacEwan’s Ambassador Leadership program.
In the role as Special Projects Coordinator, she has the opportunity to work with many Aboriginal Economic Development Oﬃcers and Land Managers from across Canada. Working with First Nation Communies is a passion of hers and with each project she is able to do so, whether it be through coordinang a conference, workshop, or a meeting. While working as the Special Projects Coordinator, she is able to work on Professional Development through several projects. She is excited to continue with the Cando family in the role as Special Projects Coordinator, she believes she will have the right foundation at Cando to gain experience and achieve her career goals.
